What happens during your helicopter lesson?
A full hour gives you time to experience much more of what flying a helicopter feels like.
Before you take off, your instructor will talk you through the Robinson R44, introduce you to the main flying controls and explain what to expect once you are airborne.
You’ll then spend approximately 60 minutes in the air, one to one with your instructor. A full hour gives you more time to experience how the helicopter responds, work with the controls under guidance and build a much clearer feel for the aircraft from the pilot’s seat.
No previous flying experience is needed. The hour works as a substantial first helicopter lesson in its own right, and the flying time can also count towards future helicopter pilot training if you decide to continue.

Do I need previous flying experience?
No. The lesson is designed for complete beginners. Your instructor will introduce the helicopter and its controls before you fly.
How long is the lesson?
The lesson includes approximately 60 minutes flying time. You’ll also need additional time at the venue for the pre flight briefing and other ground arrangements.
Which helicopter is used?
The lesson is flown in a four seat Robinson R44 with a qualified instructor.
Can someone join me in the helicopter?
Up to two observers can join the flight for £50 each, subject to flying school discretion. Spectators are also welcome to come along to the venue.
Does the lesson count towards a pilot licence?
Yes. The flying time can count towards future helicopter pilot training if you decide to continue learning.
What are the age, weight and height limits?
The minimum age is 12. The maximum weight is 133 kg and the maximum height is 1.98 metres.

Yes. The voucher is valid at any of the seven listed venues for this lesson and remains valid for twelve months.
